Using SuperCollider for audio research
Dan Stowell, Centre for Digital Music, Queen Mary University of London

This talk will discuss using SuperCollider as a tool for acoustic and audio analysis research, with reference to my current work in topics such as onset detection and timbre analysis. SC provides a useful prototyping and development environment for audio research; I will consider particular advantages and disadvantages. Issues include visualisation and sonification, the "tools" (UGens, classes) SC provides, and the processes of creating new tools. The talk will include some introduction to new UGens/classes I have made available as part of my work, including recent work using SuperCollider on a compute cluster (using Xgrid), and some considerations for future development.
